Pangkalpinang, Bangka Belitung (Antara Babel) - The province of Bangka Belitung (Babel) is hosting an international seminar on science and technology .
"I appreciate the rector of the Sriwijaya University (UNSRI), who has chosen Bangka Belitung to host the International Conference on Engineering, Science and Technology (SICEST) 2016," Babel Governor Yuswandi A.Temenggung said here on Wednesday.
The seminar is called International Sriwijaya Seminar after an ancient Sriwijaya Hindu Kingdom in South Sumatra.
The seminar is attended by leading academicians from 20 countries that the seminar could contribute development of tourist objects in the region.
Yuswandi said the SICEST 2016 seminar is participated in by university lecturers and researchers from 20 countries including Turkey, Thailand, Taiwan, the Philippines, Algeria, Korea, Malaysia, etc.
The seminar will last for three days until Friday in this provincial city, and it is expected to contribute to promotion of Babel's tourism wealth, he said .
"Babel has been known to be rich in natural resources mainly tin. It is also known for its sparkling sand beaches," he said.
