Ankara, Turkey (Antara Babel) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan believes Indonesia is a country that is capable of facing terrorism.
"Indonesia is very aware of the presence of terrorism in the country," President Erdogan noted in a joint press statement after a bilateral meeting with President Joko Widodo at Ankara's White Palace on Thursday afternoon local time.
Hence, Turkey is keen to enhance partnership with Indonesia, as the country is facing major challenges in the form of terrorism and radicalism.
President Erdogan asserted that terrorism in any form must be resisted.
According to Erdogan, the objective of an organization, such as ISIS, is to destroy peace.
"In Turkey, we take complete opposition and fight against terrorism, and so far, we have handled five thousand suspected terrorists, including some from Southeast Asia and those coming into our country," he said.
He added that several suspected terrorists in Syria will be deported to their countries of origin. Until now, Turkey has managed to neutralize three thousand ISIS terrorists.
"We continue to remain committed to the fight against terrorists, as we enter an era in which we have to be vigilant," he remarked.
President Erdogan also emphasized the importance of cooperation on the exchange of intelligence information.
