Pangkalpinang (Antaranews Babel) - Bangka Belitung (Babel)`s exports of tin dropped 19.32 percent in March, 2018 from the previous month, but its exports of other commodities shot up 84.62 percent bringing the province`s total export earning to US$156.4 million.
Tin accounts for 76.55 percent of Bangka Belitung`s export earning in the first quarter of this year, the provincial office of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) said.
Year-on-year tin exports of the province declined 3.09 percent in the first three months of the year, Darwis Sitorus, head of the provincial BPS said here on Thursday.
"Tin is exported mainly to Singapore which accounted for 25.66 percent of its total tin exports in the January-March period," Darwis said.
Indonesia is one of the world`s largest producers and exporters of tin and Bangka Belitung is the country`s largest producer of that commodity.
