Jakarta (Antara Babel) - The Jakarta Survey Institute (LSJ) has released the results of its recent survey, indicating that the electability of presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto has exceeded that of his rival candidate Joko Widodo or Jokowi.
"The Prabowo-Hatta pair has a 47.5 percent electability statistics, while the Jokowi-JK duo has 41.3 percent," LSJ senior researcher Ikhsan Rosidi said in a written statement here on Tuesday.
However, various possibilities are still open because the remaining 11.3 percent of voters have not yet made a decision regarding their choices.
"It is possible that the Jokowi-JK could take over and win the election if the Prabowo-Hatta success teams are careless and are complacent with Prabowo-Hatta's rising electability," he said.
He said that Prabowo's electability was rising because the machines of the political parties supporting him had worked maximally.
Meanwhile, the machines of the political parties supporting Jokowi-JK pair had not yet worked maximally.
"In the aggregate term, the supporters of Jokowi-JK pair have worked at a rate of 55.5 percent, far below that of Prabowo, who have worked at a rate of 70.4 percent," Ikhsan explained.
He added that with this fact it could be understood whether Jokowi's electability was inclined to be static, as the pair was announced and was supported by five political parties.
The LSJ had conducted its survey on June 18-27, 2014, in all 34 provinces across the country, involving 1,240 respondents who were eligible voters for the upcoming July 9 presidential elections.
The survey had used a multistage random sampling, with a margin of error of 2.8 percent, and has a 95 percent level of confidence.
Indonesia will be organizing a free and democratic presidential election on July 9, 2014, which will be contested by only two pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates: Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa and Joko Widodo (Jokowi)-JK.
Prabowo Subianto is a retired military general and the chairman of Gerindra (Great Indonesia Movement) Party, while his running mate, Hatta Rajasa, is a former coordinating minister for economic affairs and the chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN).
Jokowi is Jakarta's governor and a cadre of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), while his running mate, JK, is a former vice president and a senior politician of the Golkar Party.
The Prabowo-Hatta pair is supported by Gerindra, PAN, the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), the United Development Party (PPP), the Crescent and Star Party (PBB), and the Golkar Party, whose current chairman is Aburizal Bakrie, owner of TV One.
The Jokowi-JK pair is supported by five political parties: the Indonesia Democratic Party Struggle (PDIP), the Nation Awakening Party (PKB), the People's Conscience Party (Hanura), the Justice and Indonesian Unity Party (PKPI), and the National Democrats Party (Nasdem) established by Surya Paloh, owner of Metro TV and the Media Indonesia newspaper.
