Jakarta (Antara Babel) - Indonesian Lecturers Association (ADI) prof. Suyatno has hailed the provisional victory of presidential and vice presidential candidates pair Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa, based on unofficial quick count conducted by several pollsters.
"I welcomed the victory of Prabowo-Hatta. I even do the prostration of gratitude," Suyatno said here on Wednesday.
Three pollsters namely the National Survey Institute (LSN), the Policy and Development Strategy Research Center (Puskaptis), and the Voice of Indonesia Network (JSI) showed that Prabowo-Hatta duo won the polling.
According to LSN, Prabowo-Hatta gained 50.39 percent and Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla got 49.61 percent.
Suyatno stated that the Prabowo-Hatta's victory showed that the struggle of the lecturers' association was not in vain.
However, the quick count which was announced by some pollsters like 'Saiful Mujani Reseach Center' stated that Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla as the winner of the Presidential Election.
Based on unofficial quick counts by a number of survey institutes such as SMRC, LSI, Indikator, CSIS-Cyrrus, Kompas and RRI, the Jokowi-Kalla pair had won an average 52 percent of the votes, while the Prabowo-Hatta duo had secured about 47 percent.
Indonesia is holding presidential elections on July 9, 2014.
The election is contested by the Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa pair and the Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla duo.
According to the KPU, a total of 190,307,134 voters have been registered (including 2,038,711 overseas voters), with 486,866 polling stations across the archipelago.
