Jakarta (ANTARA Babel) - Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo, popularly known as Jokowi, has asked Vice President (VP) Boediono to help speed up the development of transportation infrastructure and facility in the capital city.
"I met with the vice president on Wednesday and asked him to help make coordination with related ministries and a number of state enterprises to speed up the development of transportation infrastructure and facility in Jakarta," Jokowi said at vice presidential office on Medan Merdeka Barat street on Wednesday.
In the company of several Jakarta provincial government officials, Jokowi met with the vice president to discuss issues related to transportation development in Jakarta.
The governor noted that railway tracks, underpass, and flyover were among transportation infrastructures that would be developed this year.
"It certainly needs a big amount of funds but we can share it, and therefore I ask the vice president to coordinate it with the state railway company PT KAI," Jokowi said.
Besides, the governor also discussed with Vice President Boediono about the plan to build Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system from Lebak Bulus to Hotel Indonesia circle.
