Pangkalpinang, March 8 (Antara) - Bangka Belitung archipelago Province targetted to attract more investors supplying environtmentally-friendly electricity power source.
One of the investors is MEMC SunEdison, a semiconductor and solar industries company based in St. Peters, Missouri.
"We are now looking forward for investors to supply electricity in our area whose technology is efficient and environtmentally-friendly," a senior officer of Bangka Belitung Investment Coordinating Board, Zakaria Umarhadi here on Friday.
Zakaria said, Bangka Belitung has been always struggling with the lack of electricity power supply in order to develop their industrial sector.
"For that reason, we want to focus on lookinh forward investors who can help us to make electricity accessable for people," he said.
On April, MEMC is scheduled to meet the governor of Bangka Belitung to explain their proposal of making solar cell electrity available in Bangka Belitung.
Zakaria explained, as much as 7 hectares area is needed in order to get 1 mega watt electricity power.
"We already have informed it to governmental regencies about that and they seems to welcome the plan," he said.
MEMC which operates two business units; semiconductor materials and solar energy has installed over 580 power plants for customers worldwide.
"We really hope more companies like MEMC can invest in Bangka Belitung so that we can develop our industry sector," Zakaria stated.
