Jakarta, Dec 5 (ANTARA Babel) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said he would remove anyone who is considered uncooperative or a hindrance to development efforts.
"If they are really hindering [or are] unable to carry out our development programs, we will ask them to step aside, so they [will] no longer want to work with us," he stated when opening the national working meeting of Real Estate Indonesia (REI) here on Wednesday.
President Yudhoyono acknowledged that he was aware of bottlenecks hindering development, such as during the process of licensing for investments, which has caused losses for the state of up to RM1 trillion.
He noted that obstacles could be created at the central government, ministerial or regional levels.
In view of the situation, the President ordered an investigation into the sources of the bottlenecks during a cabinet meeting recently.
Regarding the property sector, President Yudhoyono said it has now become the engine of economic development. He pointed out that the housing industry has continued to grow in line with the improving national economy.
As a result, he hoped the property industry would continue to contribute to the country's economic development.
He admitted that obstacles hindering the sector's development still remain. To overcome them, he asserted that the government, businesses and other stakeholders must cooperate.
The REI working meeting opened by the President was attended by 34 regional chapters and 700 participants. (T.M041)
