Koba, Bangka Belitung, May 9 (Antara) - Gaharu or eagle-wood commodity in the Central Bangka district, Bangka-Belitung (Babel) province has great economic prospect and should continue to be developed, claimed an expert.
"Based on our study, eagle-wood trees that have been grown here so far have exorbitant economic value, and therefore, they should continue to be managed properly," Trade Ministry expert Yenny Rohaini stated here on Thursday.
She explained that besides gaharu, other commodities, such as rubber, pepper, and oil palm also hold favorable prospect to be developed in Central Bangka in order to boost the local economy.
"The result of our study shows that gaharu, rubber, pepper, and oil palm have the highest potential to improve the local people's economy and welfare," she pointed.
According to her, the discussion was organized to share the result of the study and to find out if there were other commodities with high economic value that can be developed in the Central Bangka district.
Meanwhile, according to Central Bangka District Head Erzaldi Rosman, the discussion was intended to encourage the local government to continue its efforts to develop the commodities having high economic value.
