Pangkalpinang (Antara Babel) - Tourism sector in Pangkalpinang, Bangka-Belitung (Babel) Province, has contributed 17 percent to regional revenue, according to local Culture and Tourism Office spokesman Akhmad Elvian.
"The number of tourist arrivals in Pangkalpinang has exceeded the total population of 200 thousand and has contributed 17 percent to the regional revenue," Elvian stated here on Monday.
Further, he added that the increase was because Pangkalpinang has abundant marine tourism and historical attractions for both domestic and foreign tourists.
Elvian pointed out that the historical attractions include Tin museum, Dutch cemetery, mayor's official house built by the Dutch, Pekasem well, Independence Monument, and so on.
"The mayor's official house is one of the favorite tourist destinations in Pangkalpinang, which continues to attract foreign tourists, particularly from the Netherlands," he noted.
Therefore, he remarked that the city administration will establish a strong cooperation with relevant parties to further develop the tourism sector in Bangka, particularly Pangkalpinang.
